    FREE Prekindergarten Opportunities for Providence Residents

    RI Prekindergarten

    The Rhode Island state-funded prekindergarten program provides a lottery for free, high-quality pre-kindergarten classes to 4-year-old children. The Rhode Island Department of Education oversees the program and has classrooms in various locations. The lottery deadline for 2020-21 was July 5.

    Providence Public School District runs six RI prekindergarten classes at Charles Fortes Elementary. There are a number of other state pre-kindergarten programs in Providence. You can view your options on the RIDE website at

    How can I get my 3-year-old or 4-year-old child in the lottery for a free seat in one of the inclusive prekindergarten classrooms located within Providence Public Schools?

    Fill out an application to enter your child in the lottery here: PreK Application Google Form All applications submitted after June 30 may be put on the wait list.
